  • Spotters must know the difference between shear and rotation.
  • Spotters must know the difference between a shelf cloud and a wall cloud.
  • Spotters must know that funnel clouds usually do not form on a shelf cloud.
  • Spotters must know that a low hanging cloud in the shape of a funnel, if not rotating, is NOT a funnel cloud.
  • Spotters must know the difference between downburst and a tornado.
  • Spotters must not exaggerate their report!
