CLEVELAND -- A Snowstorm is making driving treacherous across northeast Ohio on Monday. The Ohio Department of Transportation is fighting snow online. They have a brine tanker that hits the roads as soon as the conditions are bad and a state-of-the-art computerized system that has up-to-the-minute road conditions, accident reports and the amount of snowfall on the ground. It has installed more than 100 pavement sensors on Ohio's roads. Computer users can limit their search by city and county. The weather stations and sensors are located along interstates, U.S. routes and state routes. They continuously report information such as temperature, precipitation and visibility. You can find updates regarding road conditions, road temperatures and the number of crews used by ODOT on the Web site. Or try this site for specific roadways.ODOT clears snow and maintains highways using 12 regional headquarters across the state. ODOT does not maintain residential or county roads -- only interstates, U.S. routes and state routes.
