CLEVELAND -- The snow total for this season has now reached 105.3 inches at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. That is a record for Cleveland, and the snow season still has a way to go yet.Although spring officially began at 7:34 a.m. on March 20, snowfall has been recorded in Cleveland as late as May 10, and the latest trace of snow in Cleveland has been May 20 Get the latest forecast, here.This is a snow season that started very calm. The first trace of snow fell on Nov. 4, and the first snowfall of an inch or more fell on Dec. 13 (9.1 inches) -- that is the latest it has occurred since 1998.After a snow-free October, November produced only 0.9 inches at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.December -- which was fairly tranquil until the Dec. 13 snowfall -- went on to be the snowiest December on record with 35.1 inches.January recorded the third snowiest total on record at 32.8 inches, missing last year's total (32.9 inches) by on 0.1 inches.A lack of major storms and minimal lake-effect snow allowed February to produce only 10.3 inches. March has recorded 19.4 inches of snow thus far.A typical snow season produces around 55 to 60 inches of snow in Cleveland. The snowiest season on record was 101.1 inches set in the winter of 1995-96. This season will be the third year in a row making the Top 5 snow seasons.
